Glentrool Holiday Cottages!
“Lovely holiday in a stunning area. The cottage is very comfortable,
and the hosts are helpful and friendly.”
We offer short breaks (from 3
nights) or longer stays in our two cosy, peaceful self-catering cottages,
Culsharg Cottage and
Kelpies Cottage. Both cottages sleep up to five people. The cottages are directly opposite
each other, so potentially also suitable for larger families by
booking both cottages.
We can’t wait to welcome you here
for a visit and let you see for yourself what a magical, special
place Glentrool is.
Our pet-friendly cottages are set in a beautiful,
peaceful, rural location. We are the only village in our
International Dark Sky Park which is why we get such awesome starry
Glentrool is all about the
outdoors, with plenty of biking, wild swimming and walking nearby.
We are right in the heart of the stunning Galloway Forest and part
of the UNESCO designated Biosphere, with trees, streams, lochs and
mountains right on the doorstep.
We work hard to offer our
guests a high standard of holiday accommodation. We’re
proud to be an
AirBNB superhost and have a 9.2 star rating on
booking.com. Here’s what some of our recent reviews have
“Such a beautiful area and a lovely quiet cottage. Dave and Beth
were really helpful and considerate too.”
“Lovely cottage right in the middle of Galloway Forest. Great walks
right out the front door. Very quiet and peaceful location perfect
for a recharge from busy life. Would go again.”
great time at the cottage. The location is enchanting, what
a treat to walk our dog in the mornings and hear cuckoos
around us. Walking is fabulous around here and on the
doorstep. Cottage was perfect for bringing Clive the dog, he
had a great time. Dave and Beth were brilliant, always on
hand if any issues. Thanks for everything.”
is a gorgeous place and this accommodation puts you in the
heart of it. Great hosts, available to help and provide
information about activities in the surrounding area. Great
place to explore the Galloway Forest and dark skies.”
The houses in our village,
including Culsharg Cottage and Kelpies Cottage, were built in the
1950's to house forestry workers and their families.
There are not
many forestry workers in the village now as forestry practices have
changed dramatically since then, but the village is still very much
a small and friendly community of people who enjoy the peace and
beauty of living in a forest.
Hello! We are
Dave(he/him) and Beth(she/her), and we are lucky enough to live
here in beautiful Glentrool; we moved here 10
years ago and we love it here. Culsharg
Cottage and Kelpies Cottage are adjacent to our
own house and we split our time between running
the cottages and various other things.
Dave is a professional
photographer, and living in the Galloway
Forest Dark Sky Park he takes advantage of the
starry skies here.
You can see some of his
photos, all of the local area, in the cottages (and on this
website!). Beth designs and makes
jewellery (you will find some of her pendants for sale
at Glentrool Visitor Centre) and is also a student with the
Open University, studying for a maths degree.
We both love the outdoors and enjoy running, loch swimming,
biking, and hill walking. We love exploring both here in Glentrool and all over our
beautiful country. We are always happy to chat with our guests about the best
ways to enjoy our amazing countryside, and offer suggestions for
walks or bike rides.
We are LGBTQ+ inclusive and
friendly. Everyone is welcome at our cottages.
